For 15 years, and probably more, I have been drawn to work or volunteer with charities that have young people at their heart. My attention draws to the generation that will come after me, and for whom I feel I am leaving a series of challenges and hurdles so big that I worry about the world we are leaving them.
As part of #VolunteersWeek we’re shining the light on some of our incredible volunteers, whether they’re a trustee, part of an advisory board, or they’re just generally lovely people who donate their services, time, skills, or knowledge.
A couple of weeks ago the UK Gambling Commission launched their new National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms. YGAM are fortunate to sit on the Advisory Board for Safer Gambling (ABSG) Advisory Group alongside colleagues from other registered charities, gambling industry trade bodies, and members of the Safer Gambling team from the Commission themselves.
YGAM is excited to announce that it has updated its legal name. We wanted to reflect the growing emphasis on gaming and digital resilience in our work with young people. So, we are changing our name to the Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust.
Following an extensive recruitment/head-hunt process with our governance partners, Peridot Partners, and then a subsequent three month induction period, at our March board meeting we are delighted to confirm a new wave of trustees and non-executive directors have joined YGAM.
