London, 3 March 2026: Ygam has appointed Craig Spencer to its Board of Trustees, adding valuable lived experience and public service expertise to the charity’s governance.

Craig is a civil servant advising Home Office ministers on high profile police misconduct and corruption issues. Craig began his career working for the Local Government Association before moving into roles at the City of London Corporation, where he also chaired City Pride, the organisation’s LGBT+ network.

Craig also has his own lived experience of gambling harms and has been motivated by his own experiences and commitment to supporting prevention and education initiatives. He has previously served as a trustee at Gambling Harm UK.

Outside of work, Craig volunteers for Age UK, plays hockey for East London Hockey Club and is an avid Brighton & Hove Albion fan.

Craig Spencer, Trustee of Ygam, said: “My own experience has shown me how important it is to tackle gambling harms early, and that’s what motivated me to join Ygam. Prevention at a young age can make a lasting difference, and Ygam’s work in this space is genuinely brilliant. With the sector evolving and new challenges emerging, I’m excited to contribute my experience to help strengthen the charity’s impact on young people.”

Mike Wojcik, Chair of Ygam Board of Trustees said: “Lived experience will always be at the heart of everything we do at Ygam. We are committed to ensuring that the voices of lived experience inform decision-making at every level, from the Board room through to the delivery of our programmes on the ground. Craig also brings an exceptional range of skills and insight that will strengthen our work and help guide our future direction.”

The latest NCVO governance review highlighted several key strengths of Ygam’s Board of Trustees, particularly recognising its effectiveness in strategic planning, coordination, leadership, and operational oversight. The report described Ygam as having “a high-performing and highly competent board.
