London, 1 December 2025: TV Presenter, bestselling author, podcaster and psychotherapist, Anna Williamson, is supporting Ygam’s Christmas campaign aimed at providing parents with trusted information and advice when buying video games for their children.

As millions of parents prepare to buy video games as gifts this Christmas, many feel uncertain about the content, features, and potential impact on their children’s online safety and wellbeing.

Ygam has teamed up with Anna, a mum of two young children who play video games, for a video which provides practical tips on choosing age-appropriate games, how to set up parental controls and monitoring tools, and promote healthy gaming habits.

Alongside her television work, Anna is an NSPCC Campaigner for Childhood, a trained Childline counsellor and also an ambassador for mental health charity Mind. She also co-presents the popular podcast LuAnna with Luisa Zissman.

The campaign, which kicks off on the 1st December with the #BeforeYouBuy tagline, aims to share a series of content to support and empower parents in the lead-up to Christmas with trusted information, advice, and guidance when purchasing video games as gifts.

According to the latest Mumsnet report Children and Gaming: An Analysis of Parent Attitudes, commissioned by Ygam, 8 in 10 parents are concerned about their child’s screen time when it comes to gaming and two thirds of parents are concerned about the risk of addiction to video games. Furthermore, 52% of parents had seen gambling-like mechanisms in the games their child plays.

Anna Williamson said: “While we can all get swept up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping, it’s important that parents have the information they need when it comes to purchasing video games for their children. Video games can be brilliant for my kids’ creativity, problem-solving, and even their social skills. But with so much talk about online safety, it’s essential that I understand the content and features they are engaging with when gaming.

“I’m delighted to support the fantastic team at Ygam and as a parent myself, I am grateful for the advice and support they’ve provided me as a parent. They do some amazing work to ensure parents and carers have the knowledge and tools they need to create a safer digital home environment. So, to all parents thinking of treating their children to a video game this Christmas, check out this campaign to make sure you know the game before you buy!”
